Merry Christmas to you all! Aravis, I think I'll probably avoid coal, although my cousins (3 & 5 y/o) did try to take some of my presents home with them when they visited today. Apparently when you are that age all Christmas gifts are for you!

For all of you who are warmed by it; a very merry Christmas.
As for the rest, there is the more universal celebration of Christnucha. On this day Reb Clausner circles the world assisted by his elves wearing seasonal red and green Yarmulkes bringing joy and latkes to all.
Or; one of my sons and his partner have invented Heathenmass for their new daughter to celebrate. On the solstice, Francesca the Heathenmass lemur, brings gifts wrapped in traditional plain brown paper. The advantage of Heathenmass over Christmas is that it comes twice a year so that Robert and Pinkozcat can also enjoy a white Heathenmass just as we do up here above the line.

LOL - Robert and I are way ahead of you on having winter heathenmasses. Here we celebrate "Christmas in July". Rather a silly notion but it is a good excuse to get together and get tired and emotional.

I've just returned from a week 'up the coast' with my parents for Xmas - it rained and blew a gale. so there wasn't much beaching. It was terrible to hear, read and see the horrific images from tsunami devastated countries. Really unbelievable...

we have been watching the aftermath of the tsunami for the last few days.... the scope of the tragedy is almost incomprehensible... the fact that it affected places as far away as Africa points up how fragile and interdependent our planet is.... I spent about a month in Indonesia a couple of years ago.... so, superimposing images of the devastation over my memories of that area is emotionally devastating to me...

I heard a report that increases in water level attributed to the tsunami were measured on the coast of California; 8” (20.3 cm) at San Diego. What perceivable effect that would have on the surf I don’t know, but it does give some idea of how far reaching these things can be.
To the best of my knowledge nothing was reported at Ocean Beach in San Francisco. Of course there is not much surfing on that beach. San Francisco waves are far too laid back, not to say strung out for much of a ride. Besides which the water is far too cool - man!
Ahh; the 70's.

Getting very close. A happy New Year to all; particularly to Aravis, who sounds like she has had a beastly 2004. Good riddance to it then! I know its hard to believe sometimes, but it comes around Aravis. It comes around.

Thanks Wyn. I think at this point the whole world could really use a better New Year. Now that it's here, let's make the most of it!
