And now I finally understand this bit on the Current Events forum here... "*Yay* You're the best Aravis." Really, it's almost a public service A Political Public Service. ;D Mmh. That story represents almost exactly what I've gone through in the last half year, turning from literary/creative to political. Apparently when you start talking politics, new divides spring up between people. But the boards I've been on were all rather liberal even when unpolitical, so it turned out I didn't have to leave anywhere when I got politicized. --- The most abundant thread for all this info seems the "Clean Well-Lighted Place" one. The last post by Robert on the 3rd appeared to be announcing his departure this last weekend. Since the Current Events forum is deleted, I guess most of the really interesting stuff that led up to this exodus is itself now gone. From what you'd see there now, you'd never guess anyone was banned over the affair. Ah well...

Aran, the current events forum at TRP hasn't been deleted yet. You simply can't see them unless you are logged in as a member. They are locked so that no new entries may be made, but they are still readable. The admins there are leaving them up for a few days so that we can save anything we need before they are deleted forever.
I am still a member. I am one of the co-founders of the site and as Robert said I was an administrator there until I resigned in August. I have put too much of myself into it to leave, but am glad to still have my friends here.
Wyndham's final post was deleted. I noticed that the other day. I was unaware that they had blocked him from the site but then, since I am no longer one of them they don't have to tell me these things. That sucks Wyn. You are the anti-hero! ;D

I suppose there is little chance of someone having that last post cached for viewing? Just asking... I always like to inform myself. Edit: Of course, that's why I also registered to read that. Just couldn't resist. Edit2: Man, that's fascinating. I love reading history...

I had no idea anyone had actually been banned from TRP! I don't always read every post, and so I must have missed something.... Was any reason given for the banning?

Words, if I were going to guess, I think it was probably complaining about the greater weight given to privy communications to the administrators than opinions openly expressed, inviting rebuttal. First time I went back, I wanted to amend it to suggest that if anybody caused Coco etc. pain it wasn't posters, it was the weazles who prefer that method of expressing disagreement.

Wyn, I went back there to see how your banning is being handled. (I belong to a forum where banned persons are listed as "Banned" under their user names!) There's no indication that you've been banned. But I tried sending you a message there, and I don't think it went through. Not sure though.

No hardship. I didn't expect anything else.

Words can you post at my homepage too to see if the same thing happens?

I notice - that due to a flood of emails - Rose has returned to TRP. If she is Laziestgirlintown the disingenuous nature of her complaints is startling. Might be barking up the wrong tree there but it was worth mentioning in light of our ostracism.

Oh. Aravis. Comrade Tenarke isn't here yet, otherwise I think the rebels are pretty much complete. I've tried to email him at home, but he has some anti-spam doomsday machine which shunts messages into a 'suspect' folder if it doesn't recognise the address. Wondering if you could post a message to his homepage at readersplace, assuming he still goes there?

Robert, LaziestGirlInTown is someone completely different. She has been around for most of this year and is from Switzerland, I believe.
Wyn: Will do!

Robert, I went to TRP and again saw no indication that you'd been banned. You're still listed as a member.
I had to edit my earlier post in this thread about the test message I sent to Wyn. I probably have no way of knowing whether it went through. I forgot that there is no list of SENT messages there--just messages received.
But I did send a test message to you, Robert, in case you want to log in there and see what's what.
I have some e-mail contact with LizzieD. She didn't know about any of this because she's been too busy lately. She used to take part in the Hot Topics/Current Events discussions....

Yes, Wyndham, as I now know you know, I did finally make it on board here.
Yes Wyn, I do have an industrial strength spam blocker which didn’t let you through. Though strong of arm, it lacks discernment and lets through all manner of garbage carefully foiling anything which I really might value seeing.
Though not usually given to conspiracy theories I do believe that this is a deliberate act on the computer’s part. Years ago in engineering school I made disparaging remarks concerning the reality of electricity; being a fiercely partisan Mechanical Engineer. I then may have made remarks about the dubious nature of electronics itself.
Later, I believe that I caught my pocket calculator in a conspiratorial dialogue with my digital watch. I can’t be sure what was said as this was carried out in their native tongue, Japanese. Later in my career my employers removed my drawing board and pencils replacing them with a PC and CAD program. Since then I have been at the mercy of these perverse cyber-beings which now have gained control of my world, even invading the operations of my automobile and transforming the ring of my telephone to an anemic warble.
Robert and Aravis did make it through however and, as you see I am here.
I too have checked back with TRP though I didn’t try to post anything. There are no indications that I have been banned.
I must say that I feel rather left out. It’s a bit like a politician not making it to Nixon’s “enemies list” back in the day. I always thought that I was adequately curmudgeonly, but now it seems I’m just another wimp.
Sigh!
