I live in the Blue Mountains, on the outskirts of Sydney, with my 14 month old daughter and partner. I work as a Head Teacher of English at a high school. Increasingly I seem to have little time for anything but a recent trip to Fiji gave me a chance to scuba dive again. I also enjoy travelling, music, trekking, bushwalking, camping and reading. My favourite countries so far have are India and England; and greatest disappointment, Ireland.
Having been online since 1998 I enjoy keeping informed and listening to other perspectives and opinions. Sometimes I piss people off who are more conservative - they are always American.

I guess that makes me the junior member here... I feel odd with so many teachers around me.

Hi! I'd be very interested in a music board. ;D I'll properly introduce myself soon. I'm so enamoured with this forum that I've stayed up an hr reading through it. If I'm not back w/in a few days, it's because my pc needs overhauling. Looking forward to meeting you all and participating!

I see I've found the folder after all. My name is John. I am 42, married, two small children, in Des Moines, Iowa now but originally from Fairfax, VA. I am a full-time Christian psychologist and part-time evangelist (I will not preach however if you do not sin . I only recently settled on a career, last three years. Before that, I was a student for more than 20 years (classical music for 7 years, then seminary and a missionary in South America, then post grad. school, finally started my own practice in psychology and have 'settled down.'). I have many interests .. reading, classical music, history, archeology, theology top the list. I am a moderate politically and not a zealot in practice of my religion but of strong faith. I met Aravis through her blog. She is very, very bright, occasionally oppositional but always entertaining, lovely and helpful. I look forward to getting to know you all better. To wordswordswords: I am so sorry to hear about the death of your daughter.

Welcome John. Flattery will get you many things.
Oppositional? Me? I do believe my husband and family would have to agree with you! I never would, of course. ;D

Thank you to everyone here for a very warm welcome. I hoped to have time to participate in such an interesting place and learn others' views. So, instead of introducing myself, I'm saying goodbye and wishing all of you the very best in life.
Words,Words, Words, I did just read from a new post here that your daughter died. Heartfelt condolences to you. Losing a child- well, I have no words.
