I know, pink. I admire them. I was just addressing Robert's question. I would actually like to go swimming with sharks, as some tours will. Though the only way I want to meet something like a Great White is if I'm in one of those cages! *G* But I think sharks are beautiful and fascinating.

you Aussies are all mad, mad, mad!.... is it the heat?....
I just finished watching the quarterfinal match of the Australian Open between Lindsay Davenport and Alicia Molek, the local favorite... (what a feat of endurance!... over two hours in 100+ degree heat)... but what really amazed me were all the spectators that were cooking in the sun, turning red and sweating, with only small hats and body paint to protect them from sunstroke... or, were they sunstruck?.... like I said, mad!.... ;D ;D ;D

Aravis said: A shark is a living creature that is deliberately causing harm; there's a consciousness behind it. Furthermore, you usually don't see it coming and stand little chance of getting away even if you do. He's just hungry. The real 'sharks' to fear are human males. Mwahahahahaha!

*LOL* Yes, but men are usually so obvious that once we learn what to look for we can see them coming a mile away! ;D Welcome, Charles.

God...I have one more day of holidays left then back to work. We start on a Friday this year (don't ask me why) so at least it will be a gentle week.
I've had to demolish our deck this week due to a plumbing problem caused by Sydney Water. I do not usually wield a chainsaw and found it rather fun. Hopefully we will be compensated for the loss and the whopping great hole in our backyard.

Start work on a Friday?? That is letting the kids down lightly. The reason, which I'm sure that you already know is that someone in the Ed Dept has a problem with arithmetic and as pay-weeks go from Friday to Thursday it makes it easier for the bean counters to work out your salaries.

No kids on Friday. Year 7, 11 and 12 on Monday and the whole crew Tuesday.
The reason why we start back on a Friday is to do with bean counting though. We work 201 or is it 203 days a year...anyway, after public holidays and all that are factored in the 4 term school year has to total the set number of days.
Friday it is then.

I have to say I'm floored. I have never, in all the years I've known some of you, seen any of you go this long without posting. You usually post two or three times a day! Are you having a staring contest to see who blinks first?

I have been working day and night, never been so busy. Weekends disappear in work and Lucy with no respite til the 12th March. I'm working on a textbook and have too many teaching commitments outside of school hours. There are decades til retirement.

... and I have been bemused by severe sleep deprivation and a seriously weird election campaign here in Western Australia: only another week to go - thank goodness. I live in the bluest of blue-ribbon liberal seats and for the very first time in my life I am seriously considering voting informal. My representative is the wannabe premier and with our preferential system of voting he will eventually end up with my vote if I do it any other way.

Rumour has it that WA is a weird state anyway... but not as weird as QLD. Even by WA standards it has been a weird election campaign - tis true! Pinkozcat, have you been watching Melvyn Bragg's, Adventure of English' on the ABC at 7.30pm Sunday nights? It's on Australian English tonight.

No - I keep forgetting that it is on and only remember when it has finished; I'll try to remember it tonight - I'd like to see what he says about Strine.
Did you know that Churchill's 'History of the English-Speaking Peoples' ends with American Independence because he said that after that date English was no longer spoken?
