Where is averyone?? I am tied to the house for the next four weeks, not even allowed to drive a car, and was looking forward to reading some interesting comments and opinions, but ... everyone seems to have disappeared into the wide blue yonder.

Time online is split many many ways nowadays. All these web 2.0 places for users to participate and interact. By the time one uses Twitter and Facebook and...
I have been reading a lot too.

Hi Pink. I've been watching, and reading the news. So very many chickens coming home to roost eh? Who would have thought that the whole flock would show up at once?
I don't really post anywhere but here, but I've been so bogged down with work recently that I haven't come here as often as usual. I'll look in more now, I think.

I've been busy with school stuff. I have just been accepted at one of the universities that I applied to. It isn't my first choice, but it *does* have the graduate degree program I want once I've achieved my BA. It might be good to go there to get my foot in the door. It's on hold while I see where else I've been accepted, though.
Robert, you're on Twitter? So am I: Aravis.

On Twitter and loving it for the network of teachers and academic and media types it provides.

So you use it strictly for professional purposes? I tried your screen name here, and your real name. I don't think the tweeter with your real name is you, though. I won't try to follow you, though, if you're using it for professional reasons. :0)

I'm embarrassed to ask, but I hear about this 'twittering' and 'tweaking' . . . what is it?

I joined as pinkozcat because joining is the only way to find out exactly how it works. But I had no-one to tweet to and decided to unregister but found that I was not able to as the unregister button had been disabled. When it was finally re-activated I found that if I wanted to rejoin with the same name etc, at a later date, I had to change name, real name, password etc before I unregistered. Basically it allows you to tell either the world or a select group what you are doing - in 140 characters or less.

Right. It's kind of a hybrid b/t mini-blogging and instant messaging. You tell what you're up to or what's going on in your head in 140 characters or less. People can "follow" you, and/or you can follow them. This means read their "tweets," a.k.a. posted messages. You can respond to them as well. If they're no longer on, they'll get it when they log in again. You can also directly message someone.
So Pink, are you still there as pinkozcat, or have you left the Twitter building, as it were?

I have left the twitter building but since I changed my name before I deleted myself I can rejoin as pinkozcat if I think that it is worthwhile. I was 'following' someone from www.LibraryThing.com but found myself inundated by her rather dull thoughts and with nothing much to add except that I was tired, bored and that it was painful to sit down. I didn't think that it would interest her or anyone else. But my options are open ...

Happy Easter/Passover/Springtime!
I see a discussion of Twitter going on. I'm not on Twitter (and know next to nothing about it) but am on Facebook--well, sort of. I'm not there much and don't take part in most of its activities. But if anyone wants to look me up there, just let me know and I'll get my name to you.

Hi Tenarke. Spent most of the last week in N. California. Liked it alot, and much better than the South. Here in Vancouver right now. I still think (with greater knowledge now) that Van had got S.F and Seattle beat hands down. Highlight, however, wasn't SF but driving down the coast, and then getting lost in the interior.
