Aravis, could you please instruct us on how we may get the elegant format for links that you achieve.... I tried HTML coding, but it didn't work.... have been forced to string out the entire URL or no link....

Sure thing! :0) There's a couple ways of doing it, but easiest perhaps if I just give you the code. BTW, this is what you do at TRP, too, where html was de-activated. It's essentially the same thing though. First, instead of placing your code inside <>, you put it in brackets: [ ] Next, place URL=link address instead of A HREF="link address" inside the brackets. After you've placed the address inside the opening brackets, enter the text you would like to use as a link: [start tag] text link[end tag] End the code with . So if you want to create a text link to TRP reading The Reader's Place, for example, it would look like this: The Reader's Place [/URL I left off the final closing bracket so you could see the code. Obviously you would want to put the final bracket in to make it work. The nice thing about this code is that it automatically opens a new window to the link, without having to put in the "target" attribute needed with html. Note 1. With URL= you do not have to put " " around the link address. 2. At the start of this post I mentioned that there were a couple of ways to do this. Here is the second: instead of typing in the code, you can simply click on the gray box with the image of the world on it, located above the smilies on the composition page. This will cause the start and end tags- [/url - to appear in the message box where you are composing your post. All you have to do then is add the address as stated above. It's best to know the codes though, rather than rely on this method. When you click on those editing tools, they always put the code at the end of your message. So for example if I wanted to make a link out of something written above at this point, it would be easier to just go to the spot and create the link. To click on the world button would just put the code at the end of this post, and I would then have to copy and paste. Also of note, since you are familiar with html, the codes for italics and boldface are the same as html, only in [] instead of <>. Just a couple of examples, but if you are bored and play around with those editing tools I'm sure you'll discover others. And as I said, this is the system used at TRP too, so you can carry this over there. If I have been too confusing, please let me know and I will try to clarify. Sometimes things make perfect sense to me because I am taking things for granted. If so, please feel free to let me know.

Well, Aravis you have heard the chestnut regarding old dogs and the impossibility of their learning new tricks. I can read books pretty well; without moving my lips even, I am told; but with this computer I am barely literate.
I note that my friends Robert and Wyndham have both put up nice photos as part of their profiles. Not to be outdone I have had my picture taken in proper digital fashion and attempted to add it to my profile – to no avail.
To review what I have tried so far: I have brought up “Profile”, typed in my password in “current password”; I clicked the “I have my own pix” box and entered my picture file which is “C:\My Download Files\DSCF0080.jpg”. I then clicked “change profile”.
Nada.
In very simple terms befitting my antiquity and possible encroaching senility; what more does it want from me?

Tenarke, the image needs to be stored online somewhere so that the program can link to it. If you do not have a place to store it, I would be happy to store it for you, and provide you with the URL address you need to enter on your member page. If you'll email me the picture, I'll take care of it for you. rmerriman@sbcglobal.net

Eh, voila!
There I am in living color, that is what's left of it.
Bless you, Aravis - and all who sail in you.

Nulla, when I looked at your profile it doesn't show a link to an avatar. Have you tried re-entering it? The company recently did a server upgrade and perhaps your link was lost in the shuffle.
If that doesn't work and it disappears again, I would be happy to store your image on my website and try linking to it from there. I do that for myself and Tenarke, and so far our avatars are sticking.
Hope this helps!
