Cloning is a fact. How should it be used, if at all?

$70,000 to clone a cat?
I know what it is like to lose a much loved pet but that seems a bit over the top to me.

Just before Christmas one of my dogs was diagnosed with cancer. I have had her since she was 7 months old; she is now almost 10 years. Randy and I don't have children so our pets are our babies. She is living her final days right now.
I wouldn't spend a cent to have Greta cloned. She has always been an original and should remain so. The best thing I could do to honor her memory would be to adopt another dog from a shelter when I am ready. She was a rescued pup. There are enough animals out there without a home. I don't need to create a shadow self from Greta to fill a void. Somewhere out there is a dog who desperately needs love, just as Greta once did. I don't have to look far to find one.
Adopt a new animal and leave the old friend to rest in peace and in your heart.

I agree with you absolutely.
I'm sorry to hear about Greta; it is always heartbreaking to lose a pet but, as you said, every animal is unique and all need love.
My two cats are pedigreed and I must admit that I searched out a particular bloodline when getting my last two cats as I knew that one of my most charming cats had had a half-brother at stud.
But although the two have some of their great-something uncle's character traits, they are both individuals and I love them for themselves, not because they are similar to Mouseripper.
